NABLUS, (PIC)– The Palestinian journalist Ahmad al-Beitawi, was released by the Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) on Wednesday night and placed under house arrest.
According to local sources, the Ofer prison administration released Beitawi, 32, on a 20-thousand-shekel bail after having been held in custody for 3 months. Beitawi, a Nablus native, has been sentenced to house arrest and deported to Jenin.
Beitawi is a journalist and a human rights advocate, active in the defense of prisoners’ affairs.
The IOA arrested Beitawi on February 20, 2014 after having stormed his house in a series of raids targeting other lawyers and colleagues of his.
Two more Palestinian lawyers, released last week, have been sentenced to home confinement.
